Kelowna is a city that is known for its beautiful landscapes, wineries, and outdoor activities. But did you know that Kelowna is also a great place for shopping? The city has a range of retail options that cater to all tastes and budgets. In this blog post, we will take a look at some of Kelowna’s best malls and shopping centres.
Orchard Park Shopping Centre
Orchard Park Shopping Centre is the largest mall in Kelowna, and it has been a staple of the community since 1971. Formerly an orchard, the mall is now home to over 160 stores, including major retailers like Hudson’s Bay, Aritzia, Sport Chek, Indigo and Sephora. If all that shopping makes you peckish, you’ll find a large food court with a wide variety of options, such as A&W, Edo Japan, New York Fries, and Subway. For seated dining, you’ll also find a Cora Breakfast and Lunch and Milestones restaurant on site.
Orchard Park is a great place to find everything you need in one location, and it’s easy to spend an entire day there. The mall has a great mix of stores, from luxury brands to budget-friendly options. It’s also conveniently located along Highway 97, making it easy to get to from anywhere in the city. If you’re traveling by bus, it’s home to one of Kelowna’s largest bus exchanges – Orchard Park Exchange. Over two-thirds of transit trips in the region route through this exchange, making it one of the most serviced areas in Kelowna.
Orchard Plaza Shopping Centre
Right across the road from Orchard Park is Orchard Plaza Shopping Centre. Though it’s smaller than Orchard Park, it has a lot to offer. This mall is home to a range of stores, including major retailers like Save-On-Foods, MEC, Bed Bath and Beyond, Winners, and Lee Valley. There are also several dining options, including the recently renovated Red Robin, DeDutch Pannekoek House and Burger King.
Orchard Plaza Shopping Centre is a great place to find everything you need in one location, from organic groceries at Nature’s Fare Market to engagement rings at Cooper Fine Jewellers. Right across the road from the bus exchange, it’s easily accessible by public transportation. If you’re travelling by car, there’s always plenty of parking available.
As a local, the on-site Cineplex cinema is one of our favourite theatres in town. They have a great selection of movies and theatre snacks, but the star of the show is their full recliner seats. We’ve never been more comfortable at the movies!
Capri Centre Mall
Capri Centre Mall is another smaller Kelowna shopping centre. It hosts a range of stores and service providers, including Dollarama, Beyond Wrapture Day Spas, First Choice Haircutters, Capri Medical Centre and CapriCMW Insurance Services. Capri Bowling Lanes is a hidden treasure in this mall, offering family-friendly bowling, league bowling and tournaments.
For hungry shoppers, there’s a food court in the mall, as well as several dining options on site. From A&W and Booster Juice to Fatburger and Earl of Sandwich, there’s something for everyone. If you’re craving Italian, The Old Spaghetti Factory is located just across Capri street.
Capri Centre Mall is a great place to find bargains, with a range of budget-friendly options. On-site you’ll also find a liquor store, gym and Independent Grocer, making it a one-stop-shop for checking off your shopping list.
The District on Bernard
The District on Bernard is a trendy shopping center located in the heart of downtown Kelowna. The shopping center offers a variety of boutique shops, restaurants, and cafes. Some of the stores you can find at the District on Bernard include:
- 1000 Palms Swimwear – a store that offers swimwear, intimates, resort wear, and accessories. They’re on a mission to make swimwear shopping fun and provide an assisted shopping experience to help you find the perfect fit.
- Fossello’s: a women’s fashion boutique that only carries brands that have the highest quality and ethical standards. From dresses and denim to footwear and accessories, their luxury offering bridges timeless and trendy.
- Optimiiize Health & Fitness: A boutique fitness studio that offers a small-group personal training experience to help you achieve your fitness goals.
With its modern atmosphere, the District on Bernard is a must-visit shopping destination. If you’re a fan of Asian cuisine, we recommend making a stop at the Mad Mango Cafe on the way. Their crave-worthy dishes are filling and affordable, with the Laksa soup being an all-time favourite for locals and tourists alike.
Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market
For shoppers looking for something more local, the Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market is held every Wednesday and Saturday from April to October. The market is located across from Orchard Park Mall (on the corner of Dilworth and Springfield), and it’s a great place to find local produce, handmade crafts, and artisanal foods.
The market is a great place to support Kelowna businesses and artisans. You can find everything from fresh produce to handmade jewelry and clothing. The market is also a great place to try new foods and cuisines, with a range of food vendors offering everything from wood-fired pizza to vegan fare.
Pandosy Village
Just down the road from The Shore Kelowna, Pandosy Village is a trendy neighbourhood that has a variety of boutique shops and restaurants. The area is known for its artsy vibe and unique shopping experiences. Some of the stores you can find in Pandosy Village include:
- Frakas Boutique – this boutique clothing store carries a range of fashionable clothing for women, including dresses, jackets, denim and accessories.
- The Marmalade Cat Café – Pandosy – this cozy coffee shop serves up delicious drinks, breakfast, lunch and baked goods. It’s a great place to stop for a quick bite while you’re shopping.
- The Wardrobe Boutique – this women’s clothing store is a self-proclaimed “vegan fashion playground”, with plenty to offer in dresses, tops, bottoms and accessories.
Pandosy Village is a great place to find one-of-a-kind items. The neighbourhood is easily accessible by car or public transportation, and there is plenty of street parking available. We recommend parking on one end of the village, grabbing a coffee and exploring on foot!
