Staying Active at The Shore Kelowna

Kelowna is a bustling city full of activity and the people here love to move. As such, there’s never a shortage of activities to keep you moving, snow or shine. Whether you’re vacationing in the Okanagan, here for work, or just having a staycation, it’s easy (and fun!) to stay active at The Shore.  

Keeping up with routines and maintaining healthy habits can be difficult when you’re not at home. Thankfully, there are great options of fitness facilities, classes, and outdoor activities to suit every lifestyle and fitness level. Here are a few of our favourite options near The Shore. 

Fitness Classes Nearby 

Kelowna locals love yoga, from power Bikram to soothing Yin. Within a few minutes from The Shore, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from.

Yoga 

  • Modo Yoga – 4 min drive (1.7 km)
    Just a short walk from your suite at The Shore, Modo Yoga is one of the Okanagan’s most popular hot yoga studios. For good reason, too. With a variety of teachers and classes to choose from, you’re sure to find a style and teacher you love. Be sure to drink lots of water before and after a class!
  • Our Yoga Space – 10 min drive (4.4 km)
    Our Yoga Space is a hot yoga studio located in the heart of downtown. They are committed to creating a welcoming and comfortable space for everyone to practice, regardless of their skill level. Their teachers all have extensive training and do a superb job of maintaining a supportive environment.

Spin

  • B Indoor Cycle and Strength Studio – 2 min drive (1.1 km)
    Just a 15-minute walk from our suites, this high-intensity fitness studio offers a variety of classes from cycling to strength training, and even some combinations of the two. Their classes are fun and fast-paced, so prepare to get your sweat on! 
  • Spinco – 10 min drive (4.4 km)
    With studios all over the country, Spinco is a popular option for many of our out-of-town guests. They create a fun and respectful environment for you to unplug from the outside world and get lost in your fitness. As a franchise, they maintain high standards for their coaches and courses so you know you’ll always be getting their best when you visit.

Boutique Studios

  • Orange Theory Fitness – 5 min drive (1.5 km)
    If you’re motivated by friendly competition, Orange Theory Fitness is worth the visit! Their program uses heart rate monitors to gauge your effort, earning you splat points to climb their leader boards. Cycle through their treadmill, rowing, and free weights stations for a full-body workout.
  • 9Round – 4 min drive (1.6 km)
    If fast and effective workouts are your preference, this 30-minute kickboxing workout won’t disappoint. With a new circuit starting every 3 minutes, there’s no waiting around for class to start. Located just a few blocks from The Shore, staying active has never been more convenient!

Drop-In Fitness Facilities

For those who prefer to do things at their own pace or enjoy the solitude of a solo workout, check out these great options for staying active near The Shore. 

Kelowna has a great selection of gyms and fitness centres. From weight lifting to swimming and cardio, staying active is easy with so many options nearby.

Gyms & Fitness Centres

  • Mission Fitness – 5 min drive (2.7 km)
    A state-of-the-art fitness facility in the Capital News Centre that features extensive weight lifting and cardio equipment, as well as a large indoor running track. Drop-ins cost between $4-12 depending on the activity. Due to current COVID restrictions, they also require individuals to book their workout ahead of time. 
  • Gneiss Climbing Gym – 12 min drive (4.9 km)
    Climbing has become a popular pastime in the Okanagan over recent years. While our valley is filled with natural climbing features, climbers sought a safer place to learn and practice year-round. Gneiss has filled that need with two outstanding indoor climbing facilities. Filled with great and knowledgeable staff, they create a great environment for everyone from beginners to experienced climbers.
  • H2O Adventure + Fitness centre – 5 min drive (2.6 km)
    Canada’s largest municipal waterpark is located a short distance from The Shore. Featuring swimming lanes, diving boards, a FlowRider, and a high-end fitness facility, H2O is a great option for families and individuals interested in exploring a few fitness options.
  • Global Fitness + Racquet Centre – 9 min drive (5.1 km)
    Another awesome gym with the added bonus of indoor tennis and squash courts. This is a great option for anyone with a competitive spirit or looking to sharpen their racquet skills.

Personal Trainers

  • Innovative Fitness – 4 min drive (1.5 km)
    Located only a few blocks from The Shore in the Sopa Square, Innovative Fitness offers customized training plans and one-on-one coaching. With studios across Canada, their premium fitness programs have been changing lives since 1995.
