Our Top 5 Picks for the Best Thai Food in Kelowna

Posted on October 30th, 2022 in Food & Beverage, The Shore Recommends

Fall is the perfect time to add some extra spice and warmth into your dishes. While The Shore offers spacious, in-suite kitchens for prepping your own food, we highly recommend checking out some of the dining options in the area. Kelowna has a wide selection of Southeast Asian restaurants, including some of the best Thai food in the Okanagan Valley. To help get you started, we’ve compiled a list of our five favourite Thai food restaurants in Kelowna, complete with a few dish recommendations for each.

1. Zabb Thai

Voted best Thai restaurant in town since 2015, Zabb Thai in Kelowna is one of the most authentic around. With a beautiful atmosphere and very reasonable prices, Zabb is a must-go for those from out of town and a regular haunt for locals. You know they take their food seriously when their cook jobs are advertised with “thorough knowledge of Thai cooking techniques” as a requirement. Their food is flavourful and fragrant. We recommend the basil pork dish and the beef pad see ew.

2. Mon Thong

With dishes prepared by Bangkok-trained chefs, Mon Thong offers a special menu of extra delicious authentic Thai food. Plus, being in the Orchard Plaza with a movie theatre right next door means you can do dinner and a movie for date night. Enjoy their selection of delicious Thai dishes in both spicy and mild flavours. We recommend their tasty curries, barbeque chicken and hot wings.

3. Bai Tong

Located in Kelowna’s downtown core, Bai Tong offers a full menu of delicious dishes and the staff are always happy to give suggestions if you’re feeling overwhelmed. They also offer seasonal menus so no matter when you’re visiting, you’re sure to be in for a treat.

We recommend meat eaters order either the Pad Gra Paow with chicken or the Tom Yum Gai soup, which are both exploding with flavour. For a vegan option, order the Pad Ma-Moung Hin Ma-Pan with tofu. Don’t forget an order of sticky rice with fresh mango for dessert.

4. Pick Thai

This family-run authentic Thai restaurant is a highlight anytime you’re downtown in Kelowna. Pick Thai offers a “luscious journey of Thailand’s finest cuisines” with plenty of dishes to share with those you love. All their dishes allow you to choose between mild (but still flavourful) and Thai hot for spice enthusiasts.

Dine-in or grab some takeout and make your way over to City Park for a picnic. We recommend trying one of their creamy curries and don’t forget to order yourself a bubble tea!

5. Skinny Duke’s

When you first show up to this eclectic bar, it doesn’t really seem like a place where you’d find good Thai food. But don’t be fooled, it’s an experience that shouldn’t be missed. Skinny Duke’s in Kelowna has a menu that blends a variety of asian-inspired dishes. We recommend the Thai dim sum and lemongrass pork ribs.
